Playa Gigante is a fairly new tourist destination, and for years, the activities offered were whatever adventure you wanted to guide yourself on.  Now days, some amazing tour guides have presented themselves and there are actually some sweet offerings in the Playa Gigante bay.

For those looking for a free activity,  there are several hikes in the area that you would find just by searching for a trail or having a local kid show you the way.  One that we recommend is hiking the Giant’s Foot, which is what our town is so fondly named after.  Located at the most Southern point of the Gigante bay, past the Camino de Gigante hostel, lies the Giant foot in which Bryce from Giant’s Foot surf can explain to you exactly how it looks like a Giant’s foot.   The trailhead is easy to find, and depending on the season, the trail is easy to follow.  Sometimes in the rainy season, the trail is highly overgrown with lots of spiderwebs to machete through.   Midway up the trail, you will actually start rock climbing, and we find that barefoot is the best way to go if you don’t have good shoes on.  Be careful when you get up top, as the views are breathtaking and the cliff is steep.

Other activities in Gigante consist of offshore fishing with a geared panga, spearfishing in the bay, snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding in the bay, surfing, yoga, fitness and community volunteering.  Please click on any of the activities below to find your designated guide and/or tour operation.
